In 2026, for a show entitled Contemporary Photography in Hawai’i, juried by L.A.-based photographer Aline Smithson, 75 works were selected from among 400 entries. My image, “Cleanup on Nutcracker Aisle,” was chosen for its “interesting content, technical mastery, and originality.” It was purchased by Ballet Hawai’i.

In 2025, in a show juried by renowned documentarian and former White House photographer PF Bentley, seven of my images were selected for an exhibit featuring Honolulu’s Chinatown.

This photo was purchased by Hawai’i’s State Foundation on Culture and the Arts for their permanent collection.

Other photographs of mine chosen for the Chinatown exhibit included this smoker who caught my eye along with a series I called “Meat for Lunch?” that won an award. These were featured in a Honolulu Magazine spread, as well.

For four years running, my work has been selected by Honolulu’s Downtown Art Center for an exhibition entitled Architects as Artists. Curated to showcase what architects do when they’re not doing architecture, this annual roundup of artistic creations includes jewelry, pottery, ceramics, sculpture, painting, and, in my case, photography.

Framed black-and-white photos from my recent travels—from Tokyo to Brooklyn and Bruges—were selected for this show. I find the process of thinking in monochrome to be a complementary exercise to my passion for capturing portraits in color.

In a way, these are portraits of cities whose personalities I’ve come to love, and they feel as intimate and distinctive as the people I photograph on a daily basis.

My fascination with capturing the essence of a particular person, place, and moment in time is evidenced in geo-portraits that have received widespread recognition, including publication in The Smithsonian Magazine:
