A Trip to the Gallery

Royal Albert Hall, London

A mini-portfolio of some of my black+white fine art architectural travel photographs was selected by jurors for a show called “Architects as Artists” at Honolulu’s Downtown Art Center in January 2024.

Howard Wolff’s “Architects as Artists” installation at Honolulu’s Downtown Arts Center, January, 2024.

Thirty architects’ works were accepted into the show, which ran for a month and was well-attended. The annual exhibit showcases art that architects create when they are not designing buildings. It was the third time my photography was featured in this handsome exhibition with some esteemed colleagues.

Ginza, Tokyo

Rainy Rooftop, Brooklyn

In my case, I chose to submit framed black-and-white photos from my recent travels, and I was honored to have a handful selected to be shown together as a suite.

Morning Mist, Brooklyn

I find the process of thinking in monochrome to be a complementary exercise to my passion for capturing portaits in color.

Blustery Bruges, Belgium

In a way, these are portraits of cities I’ve come to love, and they feel as intimate and human as the people I photograph on a daily basis.

If you’re as inspired by Bruges as I was, then click here for more on this magical city.
