About Howard Wolff

Trained as an architect, my career as a consultant to international design firms has taken me to destinations around the globe from my home base in Hawaii.

Whether in downtown Honolulu or a Bhutanese village, I seek to capture the essence of the human spirit by creating portraits and the individual and collective spaces we build to meet in.

With my explorations, I’ve been able to get up close and personal with the natural world - out on safari with elephants, down in the reeds with waterfowl, and up in the mountains with nature herself.

One critic described my work this way:

With the eye of an architect, the curiosity of a researcher, and the heart of a humanitarian, Howard is drawn to the details that tell stories of a particular person, place, or moment in time.

My images have appeared in multiple exhibitions and can be found in private collections. My photos have been featured in publications far and wide, including Smithsonian Magazine, Kia Ora, AARP, The U.S. Men’s Shed, The Nation’s Travels, Six Senses Hotels, Liljestrand Foundation, Civil Beat, Mediation Center of the Pacific, and Habitat for Humanity, to name a few.

Since I began building this website in 2020, I’ve discovered a passion for working with non-profits and telling their stories. And I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited to create bodies of work both large and small to advance missions with purpose.

If you like anything you see here –- enough to want to use an image, frame a limited-edition print, host an exhibition, book me for a presentation, or engage me for an assignment –- let’s talk.
